ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Wednesday that the Yankees and Bellinger have agreed to a five-year, $162.5 million contract in free agency. The contract includes a $20 million signing bonus, as well as opt-outs after the second and third seasons and a no-trade clause, per Passan.
Three weeks away from the start of spring training, the Yankees are still exploring upgrades to the pitching staff, along with right-handed hitting depth. And the potential for a significant trade exists, now that Bellinger is secured on a five-year, $162.5 million free agent deal that includes opt-outs after years two and three.
But ESPN's Buster Olney has pointed out that Bellinger could still be in play.
