India said on Sunday that it would tighten restrictions including on construction activities and vehicle movements in New Delhi and surrounding areas from Monday to combat worsening air quality.

Delhi's 24-hour AQI, recorded at 4 pm daily, stood at 441, data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed.

With air pollution in Delhi getting worse, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Sub-Committee on Sunday said it would impose Stage-IV GRAP in the entire NCR region from 8 am of November 18, 2024, DD news reported.

After reaching a peak, Delhi’s AQI has remained in the ‘severe’ category for the fourth day in a row. Covered in a thick blanket of fog and pollution, the poor visibility has even caused many school to remain closed for the past few days.

Despite "severe" AQI, many in Delhi are choosing to step outside, continuing their daily routines in the city’s parks.
