The five federal employees who were laid off at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum earlier this month will soon be back on the job, the foundation that supports the library said Wednesday.

Five employees of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston who were fired last week, apparently leading to the institution’s abrupt closure and widespread backlash, have been reinstated, according to the nonprofit that supports the library.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum reopened on Wednesday, Feb. 19, less than 24 hours after federal employees were laid off due to an executive order from President Donald Trump, causing the library to close suddenly in the afternoon 'until further notice.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston was forced to close Tuesday due to the “sudden dismissal of federal employees,” the library’s foundation said in a statement to CNN.

The five JFK Library federal employees who were abruptly let go by the Trump administration last week, leading to a sudden shutdown of the Dorchester site, have reportedly been rehired. The JFK Presidential Library and Museum admissions and front-of-the-house workers were laid off last Tuesday following a President Trump executive order.
