President Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East is set to return to the region to negotiate an extension on the first phase of the cease-fire deal — as the temporary truce nears a breaking point over Hamas’ barbaric displays during the hostage handoffs.

The moment is ripe for President Trump to focus on aligning Arab powers with the U.S. and Israel around the common goal of containing Iran, according to former national security officials who attended a major international weapons show here last week.

"We have to get an extension of phase one. I'll be going to the region this week, probably Wednesday, to negotiate that and we are hopeful that we have the proper time to begin phase two and finish it off and get more hostages released,
