Ahead of the 1999 season, Gibson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he became a full-time starter. He started all 48 games over the next three seasons. In 2002, injuries limited him to nine games, and he returned to a reserve role in 2003 -- his final year in the league.

The former defensive tackle with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, was 53. His family announced Gibson's death on June 29.

Oliver Gibson, who played defensive tackle in the NFL from 1995 to 2003, has died at the age of 53. Gibson was born and raised in Romeoville, Illinois, and in 1989 USA Today named him the high school defensive player of the year for his exploits at Romeoville High School.
