Christmas has arrived early at the box office. Amazon MGM Studio’s holiday film Red One, starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, earned $3.7 million in Thursday previews before opening everywhere across North America on Friday (the number also includes grosses from other early access screenings).

The Christmas action comedy "Red One" flew to the top of the box office on its opening night Friday, with close to $11 million in sales.

The film’s synopsis states, “After Santa Claus (code name: Red One) is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas .” The movie was released in the theatres on November 15.

Red One' is targeting a wide range between $25 million to $40 million from 4,032 locations in its first weekend of release.
