Seven New York City firefighters were hurt during an explosion as they responded to a fire involving trash and a car in the Bronx, officials said

Officials say garbage and debris on the sidewalk, and a couple of cars were on fire at the location before a large explosion occurred.

Officials say the fire broke out on the sixth floor of the Clay Avenue apartment building before 8:30 a.m. and spread to the cockloft.

A total of about 60 firefighters and EMS personnel rushed to the scene around 3:11 p.m. at Grand Concourse and McClellan St., where flames broke out in a third-floor apartment.
