According to NBC Sports, the Charlotte 49ers on Monday fired head coach Biff Poggi and named Brewster the interim coach. Brewster, 64, was the associate head coach and tight ends coach this season.

Poggi compiled a 6-16 record during his tenure in Charlotte. The 49ers finished 2023 with a 3-9 record and are currently 3-7 with games against FAU and UAB remaining. Former SEC assistant Tim Brewster will serve as the interim HC.
