Nicola Coughlan stepped out for the 2025 SAG Awards in L.A. on Feb. 23. The 'Bridgerton' star scored her first solo nomination at this year's ceremony for her role as Penelope Featherington.

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan thought she was getting “cancelled” when her agent called her to tell her she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. The Galway native was nominated Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her work on Bridgerton at the awards on Sunday night.

On the red carpet, Coughlan and Luke Newton, who play lovers in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, had a mini reunion ahead of the award show while dressed in coordinating regency

In the Best Actress category, Coughlan will compete against Kathy Bates ( Matlock ), Allison Janney ( The Diplomat ), Keri Russell (also The Diplomat ), and Anna Sawai ( Shōgun ). The nod appears to have come as something of a surprise; when the nominations were announced last month, she wrote, “I’m absolutely in shock and so honoured.”

Bridgerton ’s Nicola Coughlan celebrated a big night with her co-stars at tonight’s SAG Awards in Los Angeles. The ensemble is up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Coughlan’s turn as Penelope Featherington has also earned her an individual nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
