Chris Getz, in his second full season as general manager, and Will Venable, in his first as manager, are pushing to field teams invested in playing smarter baseball, this season and beyond.

"To see [the vision] play out over the last couple of months and now here in camp has been amazing," new manager Will Venable said.

Chicago White Sox GM Chris Getz expects "some growing pains" this season, but he also believes his team will win more games than last year's campaign which resulted in a modern-day record for losses (121) in a single season,

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Tuesday that Thorpe (elbow) has been playing catch and is slated to throw off a mound "shortly," Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Thorpe has had a pair of setbacks since he underwent surgery in September to remove a bone spur from his right elbow.

The Chicago White Sox lost the most games in AL/NL history in 2024. In a full rebuilding year, they lost an astounding 121 games, narrowly beating the previous record of 120 by the 1962 New York Mets.

Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said the Sox philosophy of betting on players’ potential without seeing them perform in the majors has changed.

The fact is that the Sox finished their dismal season with a major-league-low 133 home runs, despite playing half their games in hitter-friendly Rate Field.
