The School Board on Tuesday approved a budget for the coming school year that makes broad cuts to staff, programs and sports, while promising to restore them if the Alaska Legislature significantly increases state funding.

The board also passed an amendment that shows how most cuts would be reversed if lawmakers approve a $1,000 increase in per-student state funding.
