The Dallas Stars may be done making moves ahead of this year’s March 7 trade deadline. They already traded two draft picks to the San Jose Sharks for Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci in early February. While the Stars have more than enough cap room to work with, they may not have enough assets to give up.

Not only did it entertain us more than recent All-Star games and bring in thousands of new hockey fans, but it held us over in the dreaded lull between American Thanksgiving and the trade deadline. Can you believe the 2025 deadline is now less than two weeks away?

While the NHL trade deadline is one of the most exciting dates on the calendar, it could be even better if it was slightly earlier in the season. Specifically, the league should move it to just after the All-Star Game or whatever other competition might replace it as the NHL’s midseason break.
