Colson Montgomery had an RBI triple in the first inning, his first MLB hit and RBI, during a three-hit performance for the Chicago White Sox.

Montgomery, the Sox’ No. 5 prospect, went 3-for-5 in his second game as the Sox poured it on in Colorado with a season-high 15 hits.

The Rockies entered the Fourth of July weekend series against the White Sox at Coors Field with a 20-67 record, on pace to lose 125 games. Last season, the White Sox lost 121 games, setting baseball’s modern-era record for ineptitude, surpassing the 1962 Mets, led by “Marvelous Marv” Throneberry and Choo Choo Coleman, who lost 120 games.
